My name is Tony Dawson.
I have had over over 25 years experience in the marine industry.
Starting with my apprenticeship at the HMNZS Dockyard in Devonport, Auckland.
There I learned the trade of joinery, building and fitting furniture for the navy's frigates.
Nine years later the boat building industry was taking off here in New Zealand,
so I left the Dockyard and over the years worked for several boat builders.

In 1996 I started work for Yachting Developments who were located walking distance from my home on the North Shore.
After about four years building and installing furniture on the boats and running the cabinet making shop, I moved to the new design team.
There I learned to use AutoCAD and later Rhinoceros for 3D modeling.
I produced shop drawings for the cabinet makers to build the interiors of 100+ foot luxury yachts.
We soon discovered the importance of 3D modeling to ensure accuracy was maintained and to avoid costly errors that could not easily be seen in 2d plans.

We made sure that everything that was going into the boats was modeled in 3D first to make sure it fitted.
Suppliers were always asked for 3D models when ever orders were about to be made, hence one of the reasons for this service!
